Raita is a refreshing yogurt-based side dish that pairs well with various Indian dishes, especially spicy ones like biryani, pulao and fried rice. The best part is you can customize raita to your taste by adding veggies like onions, tomatoes, green chillies, cucumber, carrot, coriander and mint leaves. Spices like salt, jeera powder, and dhaniya powder.

500 GMS Thick Curd or Yogurt
1 TBSP Salt
1 TBSP Jeera Powder
1 TBSP Dhaniya Powder
1 Onion Finely Chopped
1 Tomato Finely Chopped
1 Carrot Finely Chopped
1/4 Cucumber Finely Chopped
For Dressing
Coriander Leaves Finely Choppped
Mint Leaves Finely Chooped



Prepare the Vegetables

Finely chop all the veggies - onions, tomatoes, green chillies, cucumber, carrot, coriander and mint leaves
You can adjust the quantity of these vegetables based on your preference.

Whisk the Yogurt:

In a mixing bowl, take the thick curd or yogurt. Whisk it well until it becomes smooth and creamy.
You can use a hand whisk or a fork for this.

Add Spices

Add the salt, cumin powder (jeera), and coriander powder (dhaniya) to the whisked yogurt.

Add Chopped Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, tomato, grated carrot, and grated cucumber to the yogurt mixture. Also, add the chopped coriander and mint leaves.
Mix them in gently to distribute them evenly. Mix well to combine the spices evenly with the yogurt.

Add Water

Check the consistency and add water.
Tip: You can prepare the mixture and leave it aside. Add the water before serving.

Garnish and Serve!

Garnish the raita with all the used ingredients as shown in the video. Freshly chopped coriander leaves and mint leaves. These herbs add a refreshing flavor to the raita.
Serve the creamy and delicious raita with chicken biryani or pulao or fried rice.
